CYLINDER & GEAR BOX CASTING PARTS
Cylinder and Gear box castings can be found in items such as valve bodies, stem covers, and hand wheels. One great thing about casting is that it can help to manufacture parts with large dimensions to save money. Forging, on the other hand, is used for small size valves. Valves contain a body, nut, and a flap. The valve stem is forged. Forged parts are generally better for high pressures because they’re less likely to break than a rolled steel part. Materials used in casting are carbon steel or stainless steel depending on how much pressure the valve will be in contact with.
Carbon steel: WCA, WCB, WCC;
Alloysteel: WC6, WC9;
Stainless steel: CF8, CF8M, CF3

Casting Process
Casting is a type of injection moulding in which liquid metal is injected into a prepared mould. One example would be sand casting, which can also be classified by process: low pressure casting, gravity casting, and more.
Casting is a metalworking process that uses liquid metal to create parts. Molten liquid metal is poured into various molds, and then it hardens. One of the biggest benefits of casting over forging is that it can make complex-shaped, patterned, and sized valves with more intricate parts. Manufacturing valves this way also gives you more freedom to mix types of metal when making them. Casting valves are a fantastic cost-effective solution for many companies, and they open up new possibilities for personalizing the final product further.
Bear in mind that valves are an easier and less time-consuming way to make replacement parts when your current valves break down. Air casting valves in particular will provide you with the peace of mind knowing new replacements are only seconds away.
Forging Process
Forging is a process that uses metal forming machinery to deform metal blanks into the desired shape. The process involves applying pressure with dies and hammers to build plasticity within the steel. It’s applied to a lot of machinery and is better than casting because it eliminates the castor pits, which are the yield-lowering depressions in the surface of the metal caused by incomplete filling during solidification.
If you’re forging at room temperature, that is considered cold forging. If you’re forging at a temperature above the recrystallisation temperature of the metal, that’s known as hot forging. Warm forging is also available below the recrystallisation point, but it happens much more slowly.
Forged valves are created through a forging process that uses high heat and mechanical tools to shape the metal. Pressure is applied with hammers and other industrial tooling to heat the metal, before cutting it into specific forms with die. Forging can be done in most temperatures depending on the metal used.
